I think “Daylight Savings Time Begins” is a beautiful phrase to hear. I love it when I take a nap in the afternoon when I get home from work. It still be daylight outside when I wake up. Now don’t get me wrong. Taking a nap early in the afternoon can be tricky too.
Let’s say you take a nap around 4:30pm or 5:00pm. You wake up well rested and see its still daylight outside. Now this is where your mind can start to play tricks on you. You look at the clock to see what time it is. The clock reads 7:00 or 8:30 and the sun is shining brightly outside. For a split moment, you don’t know if it’s morning or evening. You panic because you think you’re supposed to be at work already. You jump up, start grabbing your clothes, and rush to the bathroom. In the middle of running, you pause because you start to think while your heart is still beating fast. You play back in your mind what happened before you went to bed. You know..you took a nap, had some conversations with some coworkers, and you’re already dressed. That’s when it dawns on you that you still have on the same clothes you wore to work. You look at the calendar on your phone and then the time. You see “PM”, but you do a “double take” to make sure you’re not trippin’. That’s when you realize you went to work already. Although its evening time, it’s still bright as day outside. As you can tell, this has happened to me a few times, LOL!!
It may be later in the evening like 7:30pm, 8:00pm, or 8:30pm, but it feels like I still have time in the day to do whatever before it’s time to go to bed. I may be at home for awhile and decide to run an errand after 7:00pm. Leaving the store while it’s still daylight outside after I’m done shopping is wonderful and it’s a win-win for me. By it still being light outside later in the evening changes my mood from wanting to go home and sleep the rest of the evening after work to wanting to be outside more enjoying nature and the sun. It’s like I have more energy. I try to think of places I can go to be outside longer. Sometimes, I may skip going to the grocery store and/or department store and just go hangout at the park. If it’s really nice and warm outside, I’ll park my car in a business parking lot and go for a nice long walk in the area.
So tell me..
Are you “for” or “against” daylight savings time beginning and why?
